American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and how it affects recreation in Minnesota.

Whether or not you agree with the politics or how the money is being spent....here are some of the things that affect transportation and recreation in Minnesota in relation to parks, pedestrians and cycling in Minnesota.

1. Mesaba Trail - Giants Ridge to TH 135, Construct bike trail and BR
69675 over Narrows between Sabin Lake and Wynne (State 6912-77). -St. Louis &
Lake Rail Authority

2. Root River Trail Resurfacing from Fountain to Lanesboro. - DNR

3. Dakota Rail trail from E. Co Line to City of Mayer. - Carver County

6. Bridge restoration on Rock Island Swing Bridge over Mississippi River. - City of Inver Grove Heights

7. From Minnehaha Ave to Century Ave in Maplewood - Bituminous mill &

9. Cedar Lake Trail, 3rd Ave N, Connection along 3rd Ave N from 12th St N
to 7th St W. - Hennepin County. This is the connection from the Cedar Lake Trail to the new Twins Stadium and one of the projects Senator Tom Coburn (Oklahoma) referred to as waste. Obviously this self appointed expert knows very little about the number of Minnesotan's that use cycling as a form of transportation. He also probably doesn't know that cycling commuters have increased 43 percent nationwide since 2000 and that in areas like Minnesota that are doing more to promote commuting by bicycle it has actually increased by up to 69 percent.

10. Pedestrian bridge rehabilitation, Bryant Ave Bridge over Minnehaha
Creek. - Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board

11. Sam Morgan Trail from 35E to TH 5. - St. Paul Parks
and Recreation

12. Construction of two trail bridges over TH 7 and CSAH 92 and connection
of paved Regional Trail between bridges and the Carver Co/Hennepin
Co line. - Three Rivers Park District

13. Just W of Scott CSAH 101 in Downtown Shakopee- Reconstruct historic
BR 4175 ped/bike trail. - MN-DOT
