I've run into a number of situations where bike light batteries went dead or I completely forgot my bike light at home.
If you have a regular headlamp and a bike helmet with a visor you can make do in this situation. Here's how.
Remove the visor by pulling out the pegs that keep it in place. There are generally two types of visor attachment pegs. One is a small round peg and the other is a slotted style peg. Both are seen below. Be careful when pulling them out so they don’t break!
Once you have the pegs removed place the light unit below the visor and the headlamp strap under the visor. Then snap the visor back in place.
Next adjust the strap to fit around the helmet and pull the strap over the back of the helmet. Then pull the straps down to the sides of the helmet on both sides.
I've been using the headlamp on the helmet above for a few years and its apparent with the way the band is obviously stretched out and curled. I recommend pulling it off the back of the helmet when you're done using it so the band will maintain its stiffness and elasticity.
Here are a few more photos with the above lamp and another style of headlamp with a battery pack on the headband.
In a pinch? Get creative.
